Thanksgiving Distribution

Thanksgiving Distribution

With the help of Second Harvest Food Bank, Rosauers, and Tom's Turkey Drive, The Salvation Army Family Services Office organizes the largest distribution of turkeys and Thanksgiving meal preparations in the area!

This annual event takes place the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army Community Center. By having the distribution prior to the holiday, this allows families time to make a Thanksgiving feast in their own home, with their own special touch, to share with family, friends, and neighbors (not to mention the all-important left-overs they can share in the days after)!

In 2006, 4,800 families received a turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, green beans, potatoes, and other fixings-all in just twelve hours!

Volunteers

A team of over 200 staff and volunteers make this event possible by greeting families, checking ID's, directing traffic, and handing out turkeys.

Volunteers choose a shift (8:00 a.m. - Noon, Noon - 4:00 p.m., or 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) and which area they would prefer to serve in. To volunteer for this event, please contact the Family Services office at 325-6821. All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

Donations

Most of the turkeys and meal preparations distributed are donated through Tom's Turkey Drive at Rosauers locations to Second Harvest Food Bank. To donate food for this event, please patronize Rosauers the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.
