"My wife and I recently became homeless due to a foreclosure on our home. This was the result of several factors, but for the most part was due to illness [which] imposed hardships on my ability to maintain employment and be the main provider for [my wife and two daughters]... We were able to stay at the S.A.F.E. Shelter homeless shelter for about two weeks and then were able to be placed in Transitional Housing. We once again have a sense of hope for our future which, until recently, seemed very bleak"
-- A Transitional Housing Resident
How to Apply
Applicants must attend a program orientation, held the first and third Thursdays of the month. Families must have between 3 and 8 people, must have children under the age of 19, and may include couples with children in common or single moms or dads with children. Adults must have current picture identification and all family members must have social security cards. Families must have proof of homelessness (letter from current shelter).
How to Help
Since our program budget does not allow for miscellaneous expenses, we have set up a special fund to aid families with special circumstances. For instance, when a child needs money for a school field trip, or a family needs just a few extra dollars to make their rental payment, we are able to help them out, thanks to donations from the Spokane community.
